TP-Link Omada EAP235-Wall

Key Specifications & Features
The TP-Link Omada EAP235-Wall is a Gigabit wall-plate access point designed specifically for in-room connectivity in hotels, dormitories, and offices. Unlike the desktop model previously discussed, this unit is built to replace a standard wall outlet, providing a flush-mount Wi-Fi and wired solution.
Wi-Fi 5 Performance: Offers AC1200 dual-band speeds, reaching up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.
Integrated Gigabit Switch: Features 4× Gigabit Ethernet ports in total—one rear-facing uplink port and three front-facing downlink ports for connecting wired devices like smart TVs or laptops.
PoE Passthrough: One of the downlink ports supports PoE Out (802.3af), allowing you to power an additional device like an IP phone directly from the access point. This requires the unit to be powered by an 802.3at PoE+ input.
Ultra-Slim Design: The external faceplate is exceptionally thin at just 15 mm (or 20 mm total depth including the mounting base), allowing it to blend seamlessly into room decor.
Junction Box Compatibility: Designed for easy installation into standard 86mm, EU, or US wall junction boxes.
Omada SDN Integration: Fully manageable via the Omada Cloud-Based Controller for centralized monitoring and zero-touch provisioning
Design features
The TP-Link Omada EAP235-Wall is designed specifically for "in-wall" installation, prioritizing a minimalist, low-profile aesthetic that replaces a standard Ethernet wall plate.
Physical & Mounting Design
- Ultra-Slim Profile: The visible faceplate is only 15 mm thick, allowing it to sit nearly flush against the wall and blend into hotel rooms or office interiors without the bulk of a traditional router.
- Junction Box Compatibility: It is designed to fit into standard 86 mm, EU, or US wall junction boxes, making it easy to swap out existing Ethernet ports for this powered access point.
- Clean Look: The sleek, white polycarbonate shell features a single, subtle LED status light that can be disabled via software for bedroom installations.
Hardware Interface & Switching
Despite its small size, it acts as a high-speed wired hub:
- 4× Gigabit Ethernet Ports:
- 1× Rear Uplink Port: Connects to the main network and receives PoE power.
- 3× Front Downlink Ports: Provides wired internet to nearby devices like Smart TVs or laptops.
- PoE Passthrough: One of the front ports (ETH3) supports PoE Out (802.3af). This allows the unit to power a secondary device, such as a VoIP phone, without needing an extra power brick (requires 802.3at PoE+ input to the EAP).
Connectivity & Internal Design
- No External Antennas: It uses internal omnidirectional antennas (2.4 GHz: 2× 4 dBi; 5 GHz: 2× 4 dBi) to maintain its compact shape while providing targeted coverage for a single room.
- Fanless Design: The device is completely silent, which is essential for bedside or workspace placement.
- No DC Input: Unlike the EAP650-Desktop, this model is PoE-only. It does not have a barrel jack for a power adapter, as it is intended to be powered by a PoE switch through the wall cabling
